Advent Candlestick

IMG_4806

Adventsljusstake(Advent candlestick) is a beautiful Swedish Christmas tradition. Swedish prepares four candles in December and in turn light one on every sunday to keep them from endless dark as well as welcome the birth of Jesus. The angle formed by the four candles represents, in some sense, a fortune of the future. Some people tend to adjust the high of the candles by cutting some parts off, in order to let four candles maintain a perfect angle.
This design let the stick have its own step, eight different heights and four parts, so users can keep the angle easily by moving and rearranging the pieces. In addition, this candlestick, just like "LEGO", also can be used in different combinations or even individual. It provides the diversity of the form and fun to users.

Uncompleted Chair

IMG_4570

The hallway is an amazing place, because it connects the exterior and interior worlds. Have we thought about these questions: How the outdoor goods get along with the household space? Also, how do we connect these two together?
Our design concept is very simple. This is a chair on a hallway, which is also an umbrella rack. We discover people always pile up objects and umbrellas in hallways. These things have unique relationship with the space - hallway - because of the different purposes and needs. All of these purpose and needs represent varied behaviors. Therefore, we come out this object by combining the functions of a chair and an umbrella rack, in order to make a hallway more spacious and tidy, as well as clean up the relationship and behaviors in this special space.
Interestingly, in this artwork, the umbrella rack disguises itself as a chair. Using the effect of illusion and imagination, the function of the umbrella rack is hidden very well. It is an interesting relationship among the chair, umbrella, and hallway. Therefore, life can be simple but interesting. It totally depends on how you see the world.

Sheeeep!!

IMG_3815

Nothing compares to the flourisging landscape of fluffy sheep grazing in the Swedish countryside. One day we took a walk in a nameless park, the white clouds in the sky, comfortable breeze and a flock of cute sheep surrounded us. We were touched by this scene. Therefore, we tried to keep this wonderful happiness, and shared to friends.
We hope this "sheep-like furniture" can awake everyone's childishness, remind all of us that our life is wonderful. You can lean on the sheeeep to have a brave daydream, or listen to the wind's songs, or look at the various shapes of the clouds. Our prupose is to remind everyone that life should be spent on beautiful things. So let us put aside all the troubles sometimes and enjoy our life.

About Formtalk

Owen-Lucia

We are the students from Industrial design department of konstfack. We worked for some companies for many years, and  now we go back to school in order to broaden our boundary more. The standpont of our design is to look for some hidden sensibilities, actions and forms to match the meaning of objects. By this way, we believe the objects will naturally tell their own unique stories to the audiences, and can create a great balance between the users and products.
